Turbo C For Vista or Windows 7 !!!

I tired to run Turbo C in Vista and failed and so found a solution for the same. Now U can run Turbo C++ 3.0 on Windows XP 64 bit , Vista 32 bit and 64 bit OS (in full screen) using the tutorial below :

(1) Install the software DOSBox ver 0.72 ( 1.2 MB ) (Freeware) from the link below (Direct Link)

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox0.72-win32-installer.exe?download

(2) Before going to the details u have to create a folder (any name will do). Here we name it as Turbo

(3) Copy the TC into the Turbo folder. You can download Turbo C/C++ here.

(4) Run the DOSBox 0.72 from the icon located on the desktop or from the location of the installation folder

(5) Then u are presented with two screens which look like the command prompt in Windows. One with a Z prompt. You can ignore the other screen.

(6) Type the following commands at the command prompt [Z]:

Mount [Type in any alphabet that u wish except z] [Type the source of the turbo C] press enter

(7) Now , Type in the following commands after the Z prompt:

Z: mount d c:\Turbo\ [The folder TC is present inside the folder Turbo]

(8) Now u should get a message which says: Drive D is mounted as a local directory c:\Turbo\

(9) Type d: to shift to d: prompt . Next follow the commands below

cd TC [The contents inside the folder Turbo gets mounted as a virtual drive (Here D drive)

cd Bin

TC or Tc.exe [This presents u the Turbo C++3.0 screen]

(10) In the Turbo C++ goto Options>Directories> Change the source of TC to the source directory [D] ( i.e. virtual D: refers to original c:\Turbo\ . So make the path change to something like D:\TC\include and D:\TC\lib respectively )

===========================================================

Points to Note:

(1) In order to get the full screen use the key combination of Alt and Enter

(2) When u exit from the DosBox [precisely when u unmount the virtual drive where Turbo C++ 3.0 has been mounted] all the files u have saved or made changes in Turbo C++ 3.0 will be copied into the source directory(The directory which contains TC folder)

(3) It is a good idea to backup your files in the source directory prior to running DOSBox 0.72

(4) For additional help go through the readme file located in the installation folder or look on the website of the DOSBox forum.

(5) Don't use shortcut keys to perform operations in TC because they might be a shortcut key for DOSBOX also . Eg : Ctrl+F9 will exit DOSBOX rather running the code .

UPDATE :

You can save yourself some time by having DOSBox automatically MOUNT your folders

For DOSBox versions older then 0.73 browse into program installation folder and open the dosbox.conf file in any text editor. For version 0.73 go to Start Menu and click on "Configuration" and then "Edit Configuration". Then scroll down to the very end, and add the lines which you want to automatically execute when DOS BOX starts.

Now those commands will be executed automatically when DOS BOX starts!

If still you face some problem running the program read the comments below or post you query as a comment .

How do I tell if I have 32 bit or 64 bit ?

According to the MS XP Newsgroups, this question is being asked almost as much as questions about the Blaster virus lately.

Here are a few ways that you can tell whether you have the 32 Bit or 64 Bit version.
----------------------
Right click My Computer, click Properties.
If you have a 64 bit computer, *it will say 64 bit on that page*.
Also 64 bit is available for Windows XP Pro *not Windows XP Home*.
----------------------

Go to Kelly's Korner XP site at the link below and scroll all the way down to:
Do you have a 32 or 64 bit in XP?
You'll see 2 downloads, 1 for an .exe file and 1 for a .vbs file that will tell you. Here's the link.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

NOTE: I can not personally vouch as to just what the .exe file will do, but I would trust it from her site.

I did open the .vbs file and it is quite safe to run.

This manual method will accomplish the same as the .vbs file above
----------------------
Manual:method

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: systeminfo.
System Type will probably read: X86

Or go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment.

In the right pane: Processor_Architecture should read: x86 for 32 bit.

You *cannot* buy XP 64-bit edition "off the shelf" in *any* software store, or off of *any* retail outlet.

If you're running 64-bit WinXP, at the *minimum* you're using it in a professional engineering or scientific environment, and most likely have an IT department taking care of these things for you.

I hope this helps to clear this up.

How to copy images in Orkut Albums

There are two tricks which can be used to copy images from the Orkut Albums out of which the first one can be fixed by Orkut developers and the second one which can never be fixed by Orkut developers.

Trick #1

1. Open the album image you want to copy.
2. Drag the image to the address bar and the image will be loaded in browser with the direct URL to the image in the address bar.
3. Now you can right click and save the picture.

Trick #2

1. Right Click near the image.
2. Select This Frame > View Frame Source.
3. Look for this line :

http://images.orkut.com/orkut/albums2/ATcAAADH7F1-3-8V8eHgTvxE4E8i9DUQ2PbHBWhiXBPFMWtlfS64bzmqiRxxeMUoo_BYkyS5AMRxJUBPDSluRGwtJoORAJtU9VBuBz-JVLSovRH9jI82kVu_pFjsKg.jpg

4. The URL in the above line is the direct URL of that image.
5. Open the image URL in a new window or tab.
6. Now you can right click and save the picture.

Note : The same principle works for Google Chrome and Opera too. Although IE 6 won’t do good. And I have not tried the trick on later versions of IE.

Bonus Trick

Apart from any trick you can also use the Print Screen method. Press Print Screen on your keyboard and paste the screenshot in any image editor or Ms Paint. Crop the portion you want and save it. Thats it.

If you have any questions then leave them in the comments and I will try to answer them.

How to Uninstall and Remove Windows 7 or Vista Leaving Windows XP on Dual Boot System

Windows operating system supports dual-booting a PC, where users can install multiple OSes and select which system to boot up to on machine startup. If you have installed Windows 7 or Windows Vista on top of current existing Windows XP to make the PC a dual boot system, but now decided to ditch or dump the Windows 7 or Windows Vista
partition to revert to the old good classic Windows XP follow the guide below to uninstall and remove Windows 7 or Windows Vista to leave only Windows XP without having to reinstall the OS, and without affecting saved files and data.

Important: Do not use this tutorial if your dualboot system is Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

1. Boot up and log on to Windows XP desktop.
2. Insert the Windows Vista or Windows 7 DVD installation disc into CD-ROM or DVD-ROM optical drive.

Alternatively, mount the Windows 7 or Windows Vista DVD ISO image on any virtual drive.
3. Run Command Prompt, or click directly to Start menu -> Run command.
4. In the command prompt or the Run text box, issue the following command and hit Enter:

[DVD Drive Letter]:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force

For example,

If the DVD drive path is D:, then enter the following:

D:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force

The step will remove the boot menu to select operating system to start.
5. Remove the DVD disc and restart the computer.
6. The computer will boot up with Windows XP installation partition.
7. Manually remove files and folders of Windows Vista or Windows 7, including Windows, Program Files and Users folder. If you’re installing to separate partition, just format the partition to clean it instantly (with FDisk, Disk Manager of Computer Management or third party partition management software such as Partition Magic or EASEUS Partition Manager).
8. On the root system folder of Windows XP, delete Boot.BAK and BootSect.BAK. The two files are remnant backup leftover files of previously installed Windows Vista or Windows 7 bootloader, but no longer useful for Windows XP only system.

Tip: NT52 is the MBR (Master Boot Record) used by Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, while Windows Vista uses NT6. So if you’re uninstall Windows 7 in Vista/7 dual boot system, change the NT52 in the command to NT60.

Fast Shortcut: It’s also possible to format the Windows Vista or Windows 7 partition straight away, and then start the computer with Windows XP Setup CD to repair the system partition, or run the “bootsect /nt52 c:” command above from the \boot\ folder of leftover OS immediately to repair the boot partition.

Tip: When startup repair the boot record after removing an installed operating system from dual-boot or multi-boot system, always use the highest version of Windows installation DVD/CD to perform the repair. For example, in a tri-boot PC with Windows XP, Vista and 7, after uninstalling Windows 7, use Windows Vista to repair the system. If the PC is restored and reverted back to Windows XP, then use the Windows XP setup CD.

Backup Software For Settings Of Mozilla Firefox !!

A great program called MozBackup packages up all your essential Firefox and Thunderbird settings: bookmarks, mail, contacts, history, extensions, cache etc. The newest release of this essential utility for all Firefox users now supports popular extensions Scrapbook and Tabbrowser Preferences.

Download MozBackup for Windows. Install the app and run it. Pick which Mozilla program and which user and choose "Backup a profile." You will be able to password-protect your backup file if you'd like. (Click to enlarge the screenshot.)

Firefox or Thunderbird can't be running while the backup is created. When you're done, the resulting .pcv file (which is really just a zip file) will contain all your settings. Email it to yourself and save it on your new work computer. Download and install MozBackup there and run it, this time choosing to "Restore a profile" rather than back up. That should set up your Firefox exactly how you had it at your old office.

Coincidentally, it's a great idea to run MozBackup before you install new Firefox extensions that are in development or that you fear might bork up your profile directory. Your backed up profile lets you rollback easily.

Good luck at the new job!

How do I change my Windows mouse cursor?

Question:

How do I change my Windows mouse cursor?
Answer:

Below are the steps on how to change the Microsoft Windows mouse cursor. It is important to realize that some programs may use their own mouse cursors and that following the below steps will only change the Windows cursors and not the cursors used in third-party programs or games.

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel double-click the Mouse icon.
3. In the Mouse Properties click the Pointers tab.
4. In Pointers click the down arrow on the Scheme and select another cursor scheme you wish to use.

In addition to changing the scheme you can individually change each type of cursor by double-clicking each of the cursors and selecting the new cursor you wish to use. If you individually change each cursor or modify a scheme with new cursors we suggest saving the scheme as a new scheme.

Everything you may need to know about how to fix errors in USB Flash drives and how to Format USB Flash

USB Drives, Flash Drives, Pen Drives or USB Flash drives are one and the same thing. These are one of the most popular and useful medium to carry content around. I may be on the extreme end, but I carry most my most useful code on my USB Drive. So few days back, when I my Flash drive was infected with virus, I was really worried. Though finally I managed to delete the virus from the USB drive.

Make sure to remove read only from USB drive USB drives are popular because of the ease of writing on it. As I was going through the forum posts about issues faced with USB drives, I was surprised to see many users facing issue simpl because they had not removed the write-protect on their USB drive. You may not have write protect button on your Flash drive. Ignore the above then

Always keep a back up of the data present on the USB Flash drive
Threat of loss of data due to some corruption of memory is real. Sometimes files present on the USB flash drive, simply refuse to open. It is always a good idea to have a back up copy of data present on the pen drive.

Never remove the USB drive while data transfer is on
Remove the pen drive only after stopping it properly. Go to ‘Safely remove hardware’ (green arrow icon art bottom right corner), stop the usb drive and remove it only when it says it is safe to remove it.

If a file is not opening, transfer another copy of the file with a different name
When you transfer the same file with the same name the file may get stored in the same physical location and the problem may persist. Many a times transferring the file after renaming it helps.

The nuclear bomb: format USB drive
Never use formatting your USB drive as the first option. You will loose all your files and too many formats may reduce the life of the USB flash drive. Think of formatting as the nuclear option, use it only when everything else has failed.

Avoid quick format of USB drive
quick format gives rise to more problems than it solves. At least that is my personal experience. Avoid the temptation to do a fast quick format and go for the detailed option.

How to format USB drives?
The required software to format USB drives is generally present on the CD accompanying it. If you have misplaced the CD then simply google for it. You will find it on the support website for the manufacturer of the USB drive.

How to remove virus from USB drive?

I was faced with the problem of how to remove virus from usb drive recently. Normally I would have taken the nuclear option i.e format the USB drive to remove the virus. :) Unfortunately I had the entire source code for my blog ranking project on the pen-drive before it got infected by the virus. That meant I had to show restraint and deal with the issue in a diplomatic manner. :(
Anti-virus software failed to delete virus from USB Drive

One run of the anti-virus software and the virus will be history is what I thought. However removing the virus from the USB drive proved to be a lot more difficult task than I had initially guessed. I was left scratching my head for sometime. Why the hell did the USB drive continue to be infected by the virus?Frustrated I consulted my best friend ….Google. Well I had overlooked a simple concept. The virus had made itself read-only. No wonder the poor anti-virus software was identifying it but failed to remove the virus.
To remove the virus from usb drive you need to

Remove Virus from USB Drive

1. Go to Start—-Run. Type cmd and hit enter. This will bring up the command prompt.
2. Type the drive name of the USB drive and hit enter.
3. In command prompt type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter. This will remove the Read Only, Archive, System and hidden file attribute from all the files.
4. Now just delete the files using the command del filename

That’s it. The virus has been removed from the USB drive.

Convert text to MP3 audio files using Zamzar

Have you ever needed to convert a text file into a MP3 audio file? Well even if you haven’t, now you can using Zamzar. Zamzar is a cool service that I wrote about a long time ago that lets you convert between many different file types for free.

You can convert a PDF to DOC, DOC to HTML, PDF to Image and lots more. You can also convert between different audio (AAC, MP3, WAV, etc) and video (AVI, MPEG, MP4, etc) formats.

Now you can convert a text file into an MP3! Just select your text file, type in your email and choose Convert! I tried it out on a test file with the following text:

This is a test to see how well it converts this to MP3 format!

It converted it in less than a minute and I was able to download the MP3 file to my computer! People have complained in the past that it takes Zamzar a long time to convert files, especially PDF to anything and I’m guessing it’s because they have tons every day.

As of right now, though, it’s converting text to audio very quickly! And I have to say that the audio quality and pronunciation was very good. Of course, the sentence above is not very convoluted or hard to speak, so it’s not a great test, but if you have a simple text document without a lot of fancy words, the conversion should sound good.

Go ahead and give it a shot on one of your text documents to see how you like it. I’ve also tested that it converts Word, PDF, and OpenDocument files to MP3 also.

After more testing, it seems the voice can be a bit fast when reading certain lines of text. Also, there are places where it completely gets the word wrong, but that is to be expected.

You can also check out a service called iSpeech which converts text to audio also and does a very good job, but it’s not free. It’s cool though if you have sight problems (visually impaired) and want to have everything on your computer read to you.

You can either type in text and have it read out to you, upload any type of file and have it converted to audio, or paste in any URL and have the text converted.

And that’s it! So hopefully if you ever need these types of services and don’t want to download a full-blown application
, you can get your work done with ease. Enjoy!

Turn off or remove “Your computer might be at risk” in Windows XP

I recently reformatted my computer because it was running slow and after installing all updates and programs, I started getting that annoying message that started in Windows XP SP2, which is:

Your computer might be at risk. Antivirus software might not be installed.

It’s fine if you don’t know how to use a computer or forget to install something, but if you know what you are doing, then this nagging popup message is useless. So how can you turn off that message? Here’s how!

Step 1: Open the Control Panel
and click on Security Center.

Step 2: Now on the item(s) that are in red, either Firewall, Automatic Updates, or Virus Protection, click on the double arrow that is pointing down and click on Recommendations.

Step 3: At the bottom, click on the checkbox that says “I have an antivirus program that’ I’ll monitor myself” and then click OK.

Note that you can do this for the “Firewall is not turned on” and “Automatic updates is not turned on” popup messages also. You can also simply click on the Change the way Security Center alerts me link at the left in Windows Security Center.

Now just un-check what you do not want monitored anymore and you won’t get the “Your computer might be at risk” message again!

That’s it! Pretty simple eh? Of course, you should make sure you do have some kind of anti virus program installed and a firewall also. Keeping Automatic Updates on is pretty smart too! Enjoy!

Difference Between Intel core 2 duo vs Intel dual core vs Intel Pentium D

Intel core 2 duo, Intel dual core and Intel Pentium D are the 3 type of processors from the chip maker intel. However not many people are sure about the exact difference between the 3.
The confusion of Intel core 2 duo, Intel dual core and Intel Pentium D

The confusion between Intel core 2 duo and Intel dual core primarily resulted from a stupid naming convention by Intel. 2 and dual may be synonyms in English but that does not make Intel core 2 duo vs Intel dual core any more similar. The similarity of names makes even many computer geeks confused when asked to do a comparison of Intel core 2 duo and Intel dual core.

Intel Pentium D CPU comprises of two dies, each containing a single core residing next to each other on a multi-chip module package. The Pentium D consumes a relatively high power. It runs very hot and is not a good OverClocker.

Intel Dual Core
Intel Dual Core is the first dual-core CPU from Intel. The Dual core makes use of two cores on a single die i.e it has two chips in one package. It solves the problem of overheating of Intel Pentium D without compromising on the performance.

Intel Core 2 Duo
Intel Core 2 Duo processors are the next gen processors from Intel. It is developed with a new Architecture called Core. The new architecture of Intel core2 duo makes it a lot better processor that runs cool. Most importantly the Intel core2 duo is a super over clocker.

I hope the comparison between Intel core2 duo and Intel dual core has made the decission of choosing a better processor for your laptop comparatively easier. Let me know if you still have any concerns in the comments and I shall answer them after more research.

Are you looking for a website that can be a private journal, a community of like-minded friends, and an opportunity to showcase your unique talents, all wrapped up in one attractive, user-friendly package? Then Esnips (www.esnips.com), may be just the site for you.

PC World (January 2007), describes Esnips as "a salad of MySpace, YouTube, Digg, and Amazon's Marketplace". The ability to do so much on one website is one of the most attractive things about Esnips, and sets it apart from other social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook.

The website offers a user-friendly uploader so you can easily transfer files to Esnips. Almost anything that can be expressed in digital form may be uploaded to your page. For example:
-Art
-Photography
-Audio (both voice and music)
-Video
-Webpage captures and snippets
-Documents

This data is organized into folders on your account page. You decide whether each folder is visible to the world, to a select group of friends, or is kept completely private. You may even decide to upload your creative work to the marketplace and put a price on it.

Do you want to find people who share your interests? There are six communities and dozens of sub-communities to aid in your search. Don't see a community that fits? You are free to suggest one of your own.

A really fun and interesting way to find people who share your tastes and outlook is by taking quizzes to determine your "Social DNA". These quizzes are organized into groups called, of course, "genes". It might amaze you that your closest relative' in terms of Social DNA lives half a world away!

Does all this sound like something you would like to take for a test drive?

Esnips is user-friendly and visually pleasing from the homepage forward. There is an 11-page tour that goes into some detail about what you can expect from the site. Setting up a profile is easy and you can even choose from a number of backgrounds for your page. The entire process is set out in a clear, systematic manner that anyone should find stress-free. Even the user agreement is relatively easy to read and understand. That is a rare find as anyone who has ever joined any site on the net can tell you.

A few caveats:
Although you retain ownership of the materials you submit to public areas, Esnips may use them until you remove them from the site. You are free to remove anything at any time and this automatically cancels their rights to the submission.

If you intend to use the marketplace, you might want to go over the list of prohibited items. Among the items you may not offer for sale are, "Human parts and remains". Not to worry, there is always Ebay for that.

This site is worth a look for anyone interested in socializing, networking, or just having fun. It could be especially valuable to both lovers and creators of art, photography music and video. In time, this site could give MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, and all the other internet giants a run for their money. Did I forget Ebay?

IGN.com

Have you ever wanted to find a website that delivers the best in gaming news and also talks about other forms of media such as films or comic books? Shockingly enough IGN.com is a website that delivers all of those things, and more. The website itself has millions of viewers each day, and is part of a massive network of entertainment websites.

Being a massive video game network seems to be pretty easy for IGN, seeing as the formula works very well. At first glance IGN is the perfect website for entertainment news, so is it the place that everyone should have saved in their favorites or bookmarks menu? Who knows, so lets take a look at the website and its features.

Design

At first glance it seems that the design and such of IGN Is very impressive. The website is full of flash animations and advertisements from other high profile companies, and that's the only downside to the website in regards to design. Take note that the layout changes every now and then for special events or game releases similar to the way that MySpace changes.

Features

There are many features to IGN that visitors should really consider checking out. First of all the front page is littered with the latest news from the gaming, film, and even comic book industries. If visitors look beyond that they're bound to see that featured articles are all over the front page with crisp images of many things.

It seems like the main feature of the website is to cater to gamers, however there is a large amount of gaming news on the website also. All these news articles can range from being rumors to real official announcements from major gaming companies.

Every now and then IGN makes list of what they think the top video games are, or even the top cartoons. While it's easy to totally disagree with their choices, everyone should respect them for the work that they do.

It isn't easy to find connections inside the gaming industry to give out the newest video game rumors. There are sections of the website devoted to popular games, such as Pokemon, but for others visitors will need to search the website or look through the preview or review sections.

That being said, IGN also features previews and reviews for games, films, and even television shows. For video games they have release date lists, contests, screen shots and video clips that feature parts of the game.

Improvements

So does IGN seem like a place that you may want to go to for the newest entertainment news? It doesn't need many improvements, because it is in fact one of the best places on the Internet to get gaming news and reviews. IGN gets a ten out of ten for being perfect in the eyes of a gamer.

IMDb.com

Ever wondered about the newest films to come out of Hollywood? IMDb is a website devoted to listing virtually every aspect of these films and when they come out. On top of that they also have entire database of old films and pretty much every actor imaginable and what films they've been in.

If you're interested in checking out what IMDb believes are the top 125 films of all time, this may be the website for you. Either way it seems like IMDb is one of the largest film oriented databases in the world, so is it worth visiting and should it be on everyone's favorites or bookmarks list?

Design

In regards to design and layout features, IMDb doesn't look all that professional but it seems to work for them. Overall the website looks very plain and could use some colorful backgrounds or something to make it more appealing to visitors. However since this website is the largest database for actors and films, people pretty much have no choice but to visit it.

Features

There aren't many features present on IMDb, but there actually are mountains of information on the website. First of all, visitors can click on the Now Playing section to see what films are in theaters at the moment, and of course visitors can expect to see clips of the film and even pictures of the actors from the film.

In the next section called Movies and TV News, visitors can expect the newest from the entertainment industry. It doesn't just stick to films and movies however, as current events seem to find their way onto the news postings also.

The other sections of IMDb are fairly easy to describe, for example the DVD and Blu-Ray section of the website lists and describes new video releases and details them very well. The writers of the website aren't that bad either, so be sure to check out this website for information on new movie releases.

In addition to those features, IMDb also has its own Youtube or Veoh style video service where full episodes of several television shows are posted for free. Also, visitors can expect to see a pretty good television guide list of everything that's on right now on the most popular channels.

Improvements

With all of these great informal pages devoted to Hollywood films, is IMDb worth visiting over and over again? Simply enough, yes it is, because they truly do post the newest in entertainment news for free, so pretty much everyone should check them out.

Is there any room for improvement? Not really, but it would be nice to see some more features on the website. Nevertheless, IMDb gets a seven out of ten, for being slightly above average.

Rotten Tomatoes.com

If you are the type who rely on movie reviews before watching the actual movie, then I think you will love "Rotten Tomatoes. If you're perceptive, you'll be able to deduce that the website's name is derived from the act of pelting rotten tomatoes to the worst performers on stage.

That's exactly how things get rated in this fantastic website, through tomatoes. When you see a movie get a fresh rating, then it garnered a lot of rave reviews. Seeing a green rotten splat beside a movie's name, on the other hand, means that it got all kinds of flak from the critics. Rotten Tomatoes actually compiles many reviews from the top critics in the industry into one site, and then gives the visitor an idea through the Tomatometer (read: a cumulative average) on how the movie fared.

I find the interface in Rotten Tomatoes rather cluttered but innovative. Cluttered, in the sense that there are a lot of information provided but it's just too dizzying to even know where to begin. The innovation factor balances it though. Some of the things within this website (which I will tackle later) are quite interesting. When visiting Rotten Tomatoes for the first time, you may become overwhelmed but also a little bit amazed. Frankly, the work they put into making this website is nothing short of phenomenal. Not just a film aficionado but being an amateur webpage developer myself, this kind of precision and care the site administrator provides is very appealing to me.

In each movie page, there are snippets of movie reviews for you to peruse. You also have the option to read only the fresh reviews or the rotten reviews. Sometimes, a movie will have polarizing reviews and it's a bit confusing to read a favorable review side-by-side with a scathing review. Well, in my case, I just tick the Fresh option to sift through the pleasant reviews first. In the end, it all comes down to preference, and the thing is, Rotten Tomatoes is adaptive to what the user deems helpful.

In forming opinions regarding movies, one must also know the details of the movies as well. Rotten Tomatoes, just like the more popular IMDB, also provides many sources for information like ticket reservations, show schedules, posters, and whatnot. Sometimes, they snag an interview with the stars of the movie as well and that in itself is pretty much will give you a clue on what these stars are like. As you can see, there really is something for everybody here.

It's great to see that Rotten Tomatoes also gives the visitors a voice through the RT community. Yes, you as the user can share your own thoughts and perceptions as well. And these aren't just inane comments about another person's review, you get the opportunity to write a review of your own. So if you have that knack to write a great movie review, then it's best that you visit Rotten Tomatoes to share your own two cents.

Before you sit back and relax to watch that movie, it's always a good thing to check out Rotten Tomatoes first. Of course, if you're the kind who hates getting spoiled, then you can just look at the Tomatometer to see the general consensus. After all, you wouldn't want to waste your hard earned money to watch a "rotten" movie, right?

Helium.com

Helium is a website where writers can write articles, make friends and also make money for all the work. It is a great site to show case your work to publishers and enter writing contests.

Most Helium writers are part-time writers who like writing have a hobby. If you don't like writing and just want to make money then you won't be able to use Helium to its fullest potential. There are lots of resources on Helium to help writers which separates this site from other writing sites.

At Helium there are different channels. Each channel has sub-channels. These channels contain different topics such as creative writing, entertainment, health, science, etc. You can write to any of these articles.

To give you recognition for your work helium pays upfront payments and also gives writing stars and creative writing badges. Writing stars are achieved after writing a number of articles. Five writing stars is the maximum number of stars a writer can achieve. You also have a writing percentage, which is based on where your articles are ranked. More information about this can be found on the main Helium page.

At Helium there is a Marketplace, writing contests and the general channels. In the marketplace you have to write articles to specific titles for publishers. Then the publisher will decide to purchase one of the articles. Some articles can be sold for over $100 a piece! If you are a talented writer you can make a full-time living by using Helium Marketplace. There are guidelines for each article written to the Marketplace.

The writing contests are fun contests where the contest is dedicated to a specific topic. There are titles under the topic and if you write under those titles you will automatically be entered into the contest. Contest winners can also make good money. The rankings in contests are based on where your articles are ranked.

There are also upfront payments. For each writing star you get, the payment you get for each article increases. Some channels are not eligible for upfront payments. Make sure you write to the appropriate channels to get upfront payments. The maximum payment you can get is $2.50 for one article if you have five writing stars.

There is also a rating and empty title bonus. If you achieve 5 rating stars, you will get $3 bonus and if you write to a title no one else has written to, you can make an extra $1 for writing to it.

Devianart.com

DeviantArt is a well known, popular artist's community which has been running since 2000. The website is designed to help anyone who enjoys art, regardless of their ability, to post up their work for criticism and to take part in art related activities. There are hundreds of thousands of members on the site who regularly visit it and view its pages.

Joining deviantArt is simple and can be done by anyone who has an email address to confirm that they have joined. Users sometimes create multiple accounts for different things such as one for their main art, one for stock photos and one which may be a club or fan page. Someone who has joined deviantArt is mostly referred to as a deviant and can submit work into one of the many different art categories by choosing to submit a deviation. Each user page has a journal, shows recent and featured deviations, any favourites the artist has, devious information on the deviant, people who watch the deviant and any comments that have been made on the deviant's homepage.

There are two main types of users, unsubscribed and subscribed. Unsubscribed members have limited features, cannot edit their pages as much and will have less superior browsing facilities as well as restrictions on how they can sell prints on the website. Subscribed users can edit their journals to look different using CSS, which is a type of scripting language, can browse more easily and look back further in the deviantArt archives, and have access to a lot more features for their own page.

Deviation is the name for the work submitted by an artist on the site. This process has been made a lot simpler over the years and now the category system has been streamlined to help you find out the best place for your work. You upload artwork from your computer and can write comments about your work, define whether it is for a mature audience or not, and select a few other features such as whether other users can display your art in their deviantArt journals etc.

Each deviation can receive comments from other members detailing whether they like the piece or not and what could be improved about it. It is hard to get constructive criticism sometimes unless you specifically ask for it, but when it is given it can help you to improve your art style a lot more.

Deviants can favourite a piece of work that they especially like and this is stored in a favourite's folder on their main page. Each deviant will have a statistics page telling them how many people added their work to their favourites and how many page views they have had.

You can sell prints of your artwork through the site regardless of whether you are a subscribed or unsubscribed member. This is handy for people trying to sell their work online as their work is more likely to find buyers on the site.

Some deviants take commissions and will detail the information in a journal. It is always a good idea to check with the deviant about what their prices are, what they will draw and how long it will take to do. It varies between artists.

There are also fan clubs and general clubs set up across the site for various games, cartoons and hobbies etc which are free to join and run club competitions and such on a regular basis.

Overall, deviantArt is a really friendly art community and is easy to understand. The people there are really nice and helpful to newcomers. There can be some drama over art theft and nasty comments, but this doesn't happen too often and is usually sorted out swiftly by the admin teams if you contact them about any issues. The site is fun and the feeling of belonging to a bustling community is great. A good site for anyone interested in improving their art and seeing what others can do.

Anime : Dragon Ball Z

Perhaps the most famous anime ever.

Dragon ball Z first graced the screens in the east nearly 20 years ago. It's the sequel to the popular anime and manga series "dragon ball" and has increased on what was already a huge cult following. When we finally received it over here in the UK it wasn't known what the reception would be. It has however proved to be the platform on which all other anime stands. It is very different to anything we had over here and was welcomed as something refreshing and exciting.

The story follows Goku who is our main hero. He is blessed with a tremendous amount of energy and strength. He can also manipulate his energy giving him the power of flight, super speed and the ability to shoot blasts of pure energy out of his hands when he focuses. Our hero has grown up since dragon ball. He now has a son called Gohan! It is when Gohan is kidnapped that the story starts. An evil mysterious man named Raditz takes Gohan and easily incapacitates Goku. Even stranger is that he claims to be from another planet and refers to Goku as his brother.

After recovering Goku travels to where his brother is and fights him with the help on an old rival Piccolo. This is just a taster of what proves to be a fascinating plot and some truly awesome fights. Throughout the series Goku and his friends gain more and more power, learning new techniques and encountering unimaginably strong enemies. You are going to be taken on a journey that reaches nearly 300 episodes!

WAIT! How silly of me. I haven't even told you what the dragon balls are! There are seven of these mysterious orbs that are scattered across the globe. If someone collects them all they can summon the dragon Shenlong who will grant them any one wish.

You may be thinking all this sounds a bit on the childish side and I admit it is. There is enough depth to it however to give adults enjoyment too. It gives you a taste of another culture and you can see how art differs between countries!

I love Dragon ball. The whole franchise was my introduction to a world I am glad to be apart of. There is nothing like immersing yourself into a good book but the same is true for this world of anime and manga.

Recently it has been announced that dragon ball z will grace the silver screen. You will be seeing actors such as chou-yun-fatand james masters bring together a live action take on this famous anime. It should generate quite a bit of hype but unfortunately #i do not think it will live up to the anime

TV show : Naruto

Naruto is a great anime fighting show that involves ninjas and great concepts of special jutsus. It's an anime which means it has a cartoon quality woven perfectly with a great story line. It started of in Japan where it is a big hit show, and now moved to America where it has been adapted by many so quickly as well. Naruto is my all time favorite show and I'm even watching it as I typed this review.

First of, The story plot of Naruto is about a young outcast boy plagued by a demonic fox trapped in his body. He had to struggle throughout most of his life in loneliness and failure. Until one day, he gained friends that help him through his journey. He turns from a weak ninja, to one of the most promising ninjas. His ambition is to become hokage, the leader of the village he lives in, and gain respect.

Along with him, there are other main characters such as sakura, sasuke, lee, kakashi, and so on. These ninjas embark on a quest to climb the ranks of being a ninja and proven there mettle against many fights. As they continue there way up to becoming a hokage, they meet many villains such as orochimaru, kabuto, the akatsuki clan, and so on that try to hindere them. The show is so perfectly designed and elaborate that it is hard to find flaws in the story line.

I would highly recommend this show if you love cartoons, anime, action, fighting, ninjas, suspense, great story plots, or just love tv in general. currently there are about 160 english episodes and 250 japenese episodes. Here are my ratings on various components of the show:

graphics: 8/10 stars
music: 6/10 stars
intro song: 9/10 stars
characters: 10/10 stars
story plot: 7/10 stars
overall: 8/10 stars

Naruto is a great show for all ages and shows valuable lessons as well. I would greatly recommend this show to be watched. Before I finish this review, I would really like to say that you need patience to understand things. It's not a show that has random episodes, but a show that comes in a series. So start of from the first episode if you have never seen it before. The only major flaw of the show though is the repition of things. It usually goes through many flashbacks and fills in time with dialogues. After that though, there are many exciting episodes and drama. Watching them all will give you a different perspective in life.

Mugglenet.com

Mugglenet.com

*Creator- Emerson Spartz
*URL- http://www.mugglenet.com

Unless you've been living under a rock for a good number of years, I'm sure you've heard of Harry Potter, and his many fantasy adventures. Originally created by a British author by the name of J. K. Rowling, it started out as just fantasy novels, but grew into somewhat of a world wide fascination with everything about Harry Potter.

Many movies and video games were created based on the Harry Potter series, and on-line there is tons of fan made websites with information about Harry Potter. One of the most mentionable is called Mugglenet, though the name may seem strange, this fan site is nothing to look down upon.

Your probably wondering what types of information this site has about Harry Potter, we'll get to that in just a minute, I'm going to explain all the good and the bad about this site. After I've done that, I'll give it a proper rating based on my experiences using the site, sounds fair enough right? Lets get started!

*The Good

At first glance, the site appears to be somewhat professionally designed. If you take a look at the left side of the page you see a list of things that Mugglenet offers, including a chat, fan art, and so on.

For a fan site, Mugglenet is pretty impressive, as they have interviews from the stars of the Harry Potter movies. The site also offers a weekly podcast in which they discuss the latest Harry Potter news and rumors.

The website can also been translated into different languages, which is a pretty big advantage for a fan site. Proving that this one is very well developed and taken care of. One of the more humorous sections of the book displays mistakes that were in several of the books.

Interestingly enough, there is a section called "The Little Things", which describes clues J.K Rowling left in the books concerning characters deaths and so on. If you don't find this interesting how about checking out the section where the website discusses oddities in the book.

You will also find pictures of the Harry Potter characters on this site, as well as links to many Harry Potter Forums, and before entering the chat you receive a warning that you may encounter movie and book spoilers.

Mugglenet contests seem pretty interesting as well, and they even host fan art and fan fiction. So basically this is a site, by the fans, for the fans.

*The Bad

There isn't many bad things about the website, I mean it's almost perfect. Some people may not like the advertisements on each page, but the webmaster has to pay the bills somehow right? If advertisement's don't bother you, and your a Harry Potter fan, I'm sure you'll love this website.

*Final Rating

As I said above, you'll probably need to be a Harry Potter fan to enjoy this site throughly. However, I give this website two thumbs up, because it's very well designed for a fan site and it provides a lot of information on Harry Potter and his many adventures.

Harry Potter fan? Go check this website out right now!

Onemanga.com

Onemanga.com is a website dedicated to
providing online manga reading. As a short background, the term ''manga'' refers to Japanese comics, or comics made in Japan.
Naturally, the original works are in japanese. Translation into the
english language is made by a fan or a group of fans called
''scanlators'', thus allowing manga to be enjoyed by people who are not
native japanese. Now, '' scans'' (the translated work) usually can be
read either by downloading the particular series from the scanlators''
website, or by browsing through a site that provides online scans. This is where Onemanga comes in. It
provides online scans for various series from a range of authors. The
site is easy to navigate and no special software or registration is
needed. The service is provided for free, all one needs is a web
browser. Basically you can start reading without the need for downloading. Thus far, the site does not have any particular theme or
genre that it sponsors. Currently the site is open to most genres,
having manga for the young, old, male or female. So there''s action, adventure, horror, romance, school life, etc. As of this writing,
the site does not include a series with explicit adult material. It can be said that the site would like to uphold a wholesome atmosphere. The
site currently hosts most of the popular manga/anime at present, such
as Bleach, Naruto, One Piece and Hunter X Hunter, among many others. The site is organized by series, and
from the particular series, into the corresponding chapters.
Each series has a short summary and some labels to categorize what type of manga it is. Completed series are also labeled, the same goes for newly added and
updated series. There is no definite time for updates, updates are
posted as soon as the scans are at hand. Thus far the updates are
very active speedy. But all in all, the frequency of updates depends
on the availability of scans. The site also has a forum link where
one can discuss a particular manga or even request for a particular
series to be posted up.

StumbleUpon.com

StumbleUpon, a startup recently snapped up by eBay, lets you tag sites you think friends should check out, and will recommend sites to you based on what other users have tagged in your areas' interests. When you register to download the StumbleUpon program, you get a handy toolbar for your Web browser. It includes Thumbs Up/Thumbs down buttons, and a "Send To" button you can click to email a link to a friend. When you're in the mood for something new, click the "Channel" button; like a channel-changer, it immediately takes you to a new site, one it figures you might like. When we tried it, many of the sites it pushed to us were pleasant surprises, and made sense based on the topics we selected at sign-up: photography, music and movies, to name a few. As for the site that showed a photo of a small rodent clutching a miniature machine gun, we suppose that one qualified as "Humor." With nearly 2.5 million Stumblers already feeding the network, the fun, we suspect, never ends. Google also offers its own website recommendation tool, represented by a dice icon that, when clicked, takes you to a site Google thinks you'll like based on your past searches. You'll need the Google Toolbar to get that one

Why Use Internet ???!!

It’s the first post and at this time I’m itching to start new web ventures both for fun and profit. I usually do up a list of possible startup and site ideas and narrow them down into those with the highest potential.

There’s really no need to think hard about having the perfect idea. The foundations of popular websites/services are deeply related to the basic reasons why people get online and use the internet. Let’s do some reverse engineering from that perspective.

So, why do people worldwide use the internet?

  1. To communicate and socialize
